[Bananafish] central values?

anna...to the list I would add, in my opinion, a message of underlining
hope. His characters may be among the most screwed up in literary
awkwardeness, but they do come through at the end...if not by their own
might, then by a cosanguine support..Phoebe, Zooey, and even Seymour to a
certain extent, through his "martyr", acts as a 20century guardian
angels...not quite the types you would see in an Anne of Green Gables
context, but they do want to ultimately survive..
