Egad, Matt...don't you think that anyone but Christ would have 
difficulty living up to the standards of Salinger's characters?  I read 
most of the article posted. I appreciate the author's defense of 
Salinger's style, but I still think it misses the validity of the 
criticism.  Salinger does love the Glass family more than God does.

Stylistically, though, I think Zooey is remarkable.  You can see every 
movement Zooey makes and each one seems invested with meaning.  You feel 
like you're in the room watching.  Or even better.  You feel like God 
watching the scene.
