[Bananafish] Book Brokers, Collecting, and too many books -no time

When I used the word "modest", I was specifically
talking about my rare/collectible books. However,
your anecdote describes well my predicament with my
entire library of books, too. My wife (who, by the
way, enjoys Da Vinci Code, but hates Holden Caulfield
as a character) gives me grief about all my books. I
have 3 bookcases with books I've read. Two bookcases
house fiction only, the other handles nonfiction. On
top of this I have a "to read pile" of some 90+ books
in a box in a closet, as well as various reference
books and anthologies packed away in storage. Until I
get a den/library one day to arrange all of them in
one central spot, my wife's mumbling will go on....
