Freud is indeed the father of modern psychology -- and was left behind
a long, long time ago.  Most US psychologists engage in a mix of
cognitive and behaviorist approaches with the use of medication for
serious cases.  No one believes his structure of the mind, especially
as he did -- that the Id, Ego, and Superego were physical layers in
the brain.  I found this out in the 80s when I was thinking of
minoring in psychology...
