[Bananafish] Testing & Salinger's bathrooms

This list has been incredibly quiet, almost to the
point of wondering if it is still alive and breathing,
or if I've been surreptiously unsubscribed by the list
software gremlins.

Anyway, has anyone else noticed the predominance of
bathrooms as settings in JDS' works?  The thoughts of
him attaching some sort of spiritual meaning to them
or him "inverting" the "bathroom as library" idea and
making an elaborate joke out of it.  Does anyone know
of any essays or critical analysis of this?
