I have been thinking of Cecilia's question about Muriel and her weight.
Jerome's syncretism is very telling.  If seen from the Christian side,
Bananafish and porch restricted fat ladies are an allusion seen from the
Hindu side they are an illusion.  I believed the tether between the
bananafish dilemma and porched fat ladies to be obvious, that even a
deaf bat could see it.  Or is it I who needs glasses or a hearing aid,
Cecilia?
