hullo all,
per Cecilia's request, since I'm one of those silent additions, I thought
I'd step up and account for myself. it seems strange to speak now, since I
spent most of my college years (2001 - 2004) sitting silently on this list.
I joined, in the first place, for the love of JS, and stayed for the
entirely unexpected, usually un-JS-related, sometimes brilliant and always
striking conversation. I'm happy to see so many familiar names still
hanging about - greetings, Cecilia and Chris, Jim R. and Daniel, Matt K. I
know you never knew me but I'm glad to see you again. I was awfully sorry
to hear about Tim (I left the list early in 2004), and now I can only wish
that I'd spoken to him the first time around. of course, I have to ask
about Scottie - is he (are you) still here?
all that said, I'm glad to be back. over the summer I've been reading
Marquez and Robert Jordan (terrible fantasy stuff, revisiting my middle
school years), though I did yesterday re-read Carpenters and Seymour - then
spent the rest of the day trying to shake off the melancholy, unsuccessful
until I paid my $8.00 and saw Snakes on a Plane.
anyway. nice to meet y'all. here's hoping fall doesn't go too quickly.
yrs,
-Polly Carden.
