Well, howdy, Amber.

As to pleasure reading, a couple of books come to mind.  Julia Alvarez is
quickly becoming one of my favorite authors, and *In the Time of the
Butterflies* is now a favorite book.  *The Aguero Sisters* by Cristina
Garcia is a fine follow-up to *Dreaming in Cuban*.  Olive Anne Burns's
*Cold Sassy Tree* is a book so perfect it almost makes you cry.  And then,
Edwidge Danticat's *Krik? Krak!* was terrific.  In case you couldn't tell,
I'm on a big women's multicultural literature kick.  It's about as far
from old J.D. Salinger as a girl can get, if you want to know the truth.

How's grad school treating you, Amber?
