Terry, if I've made any mistakes in either my rendition of events or in my 
synopsis of "The Magic Foxhole," please let me know.
My research is just a personal obsession but I think I've done a pretty 
thorough job of it. There's so much more to be discovered, though. 
Salinger's war years are especially frustrating to research. It's as 
compelling a story as can be found anywhere, but the lack of first-hand 
information is maddening. I've done my best, though. Read all that fun stuff 
at Austin, Princeton, New York and the like. Spoken to some who were there. 
There's nothing wrong with my sources but I'm convinced that there's a world 
of information still uncovered.
Chris, you surprise me. I never snarled at you when you got me in trouble 
with the San Diego Historical Society last year and I don't see why you 
would bare your teeth at me now. I'm simply sharing what I know (the little 
scraps that they are) and am reluctant to post to my website. I thought that 
was what this list was for.
