[Bananafish] Reluctant Joy

I was reading a John O'Hara novella the other day ("The Girl on the
Baggage Truck") and I realized that I had been inadvertently
approaching the end of it when I only meant to read a few pages. I saw
the two star-crossed sort-of-lovers at equilibrium, with good things
potentially to come, and realized that there were so few pages left
that something tragic was about to happen. It's a weird,
semi-clairvoyant feeling.

Dan
