Bijan, I agree that genes are determinate concerning level of melanin
content; it is just interesting to note that the genome (expressing
melanin content) commonly found among my community locally and on a
global scale preserves the variation found in the ancient documentation.
Which supports your assertion that "race" based on purely physical
attributes is an abstract construct, often irrelevant. It all depends
upon how one defines race, I consider it a relatively useless term.
Moses' and Joseph's skin tone is unknown. Whether Moses was found
"unusual' or not may not be contingent upon skin tone (predominantly)
but more rather upon dress, manners, and language. The ancient records
tend to describe strangers by these categories rather than skin tone.
Daniel
Shouldn't really matter, as "race" is a social contruct, and the genes
that determine say, complexion bear no relation to those for height,
hair texture, or vocal tone. That being said, Moses was probably rather
dusky as well, given that he was raised in the Pharoah's domain and no
one though him "unusual". Ditto Joseph, whose own brothers, having not
seen him for years, couldn't distinguish him among an Egyptian "lineup".
