I know, it's really two first names.
I agree with you about McCarthy's prose in The Road. Beautifully tight,
crafted sentences.
As for Canticle for Lebowitz, it's sitting on my bookshelf right now,
waiting to be read. I'm currently reading David Brin's The Postman,
which has been better than expected. Not in McCarthy's literary sense,
but just as solid, well-written entertainment. It's much better than
the movie of the same name, though granted, that isn't saying much.
