just on a lark i put this on hold in the library and it came to
me
immediately so i sat down and read it and it was pretty good, i
liked it.
it got me there right near the end. the fear.

Anyone know of any literary criticism on The Road? I searched
JSTOR,
etc., but haven't found anything other than book reviews.
Maybe it's still too soon?

McCarthy says that it was his youngest son who inspired the
story. I
have read similar shorts in the past but this one captures the
bleakness
like none of the others. This is the extreme opposite to the
Lewis's
view of the world (the living, vibrant numinous environment and
the
dead, albatross around your neck - rotting carcass environment),
they
both work on ya though.
