Hello Alex, I don't think this Bfish pond qualifies as the "Internet" but you're welcome here. I think, if remember rightly, that Holden's brother wrote something about a Gold Fish, a secret Goldfish, well a Bfish in Los Alamos would have to include, naturally, some sort of association with secrets.

I'm from New Mexico too although I don't live there (physically) at this particular moment. I've run into a few Hill Toppers in my past, you know it should be Mesa Topper. I've spent some time down the hill from you in Española and Tierra Azul (where the Chama dumps into the Rio Grande), and The Hill and its Hum always seemed like a bubble of Tourists in our midst. I'm from the Rio Abajo (Bernalillo, Belen, and mostly Atrisco), I suspect you know more about the sites Holden wandered through in Catcher than those places.

All this Copperfield crap can really harrow the hardpan, but ol' Jerry likes to slam his readers down on the alien soil to get their attention. If you were to make writing a "career" then that is what it will become but it seems that your independent store may save you from that disaster whether it is open or closed. Writing to a writer is like breathing and eating and no one is foolish enough to reduce those to careers except for maybe Kafka's Hunger Artist, Jim R. or John Omlor (I sure hope he is still lurking).

What do you plane to read next?

Daniel

Hello, internet! I am Alexandra, but please call me Alex. I am fifteen years old and female, and that is all you really need to know for now.

Why did I join this list? Well, it all started about a month ago, when I found a copy of The Catcher in the Rye that my mother had bought me only god knows when. ...

It is now one of my favorite books, and I am hunting down some more of Mr.Salinger's works. ...

...known as Los Alamos High School. And yes, I do live in the Atomic City. ...

Anyways, writing is my life's passion. I do it all the time. As much as I would like to make a career out of it, that's highly improbable, so I'll probably go to business school and open an independent store of some kind(though it is highly improbable that it will stay open.)
